No. The same information that is currently available to the retailer will be available with Chip and PIN Barclaycards.
Yes. If you find it hard to remember your PIN, you can choose a more memorable one at most Barclays cash machines. Insert your card into the cash machine and enter the PIN we've given you. Select 'PIN services' from the screen menu and the 'Select a new PIN' option. Choose a PIN that wouldn't be easily guessed by others, eg do not use 1111, 1234 etc.

Yes, in fact it's vital that you know your PIN when travelling outside the UK. Chip and PIN is already being introduced in many countries and in some you may not be able to make a purchase without your PIN.
You can use your card wherever you see a Visa or MasterCard sign, depending on whether you have a Barclaycard Visa or Barclaycard MasterCard. Unfortunately, if you forget your PIN and use up your three attempts, you can't unlock it at a cash machine overseas. Instead, you'll need to call us on 44 1604 230 230 for further instructions.
In countries that have not yet introduced Chip and PIN, you will still be asked to sign a receipt to confirm your purchase.
The PIN machine will display the amount and may ask if you wish to add a gratuity. Follow the display prompts. When you have added an amount for the gratuity, the total amount of the transaction will be displayed. You will then be prompted to enter your PIN. By doing so you are accepting the total amount of the transaction.
You can register for online services as soon as you've received your card. Just click Register from the Barclaycard home page.
Once you have logged in to your account online, select the option to make a payment by debit card and enter the information requested on screen. You'll have a chance to confirm the details before submitting your payment for immediate authorisation with your bank.
Your payment will be credited to your account within two working days
If you remember your PIN after it has been locked, you will be able to go to a cash machine to 'unlock' it. If you cannot remember your PIN, you can call us and we will send you a reminder of it. You will then need to go to a cash machine to unlock it.
Most Barclays cash machines will offer the option to unlock your PIN. Select 'PIN services' from the screen menu and the 'Unlock your PIN' option.
If you cannot remember the PIN for your Barclays debit card, contact your branch or Telephone Banking (the number is on your statement). If you need a reminder of the PIN for your Barclaycard, call 0844 811 9111*.

A Chip embedded into your debit or credit card is at the heart of Chip and PIN. Chip technology uses sophisticated processing to identify genuine cards and makes counterfeiting more complex and expensive. The technology checks the PIN you entered in the keypad against the PIN held on the chip. This is used to verify your identity instead of checking a signature on a receipt.
Many cards already carry a chip, identified by the gold or silver contact pad on the front left. However, all cards are being re-issued with chips that are PIN-enabled.
Additional cardholders on your account will get new cards with Chip and PIN technology - but they will have their own PIN.
