Staying safe with the Barclaycard app?

The Barclaycard app doesn’t store any account information on your phone or tablet. And your Barclaycard account can only be accessed with your login details. So as long as you’re the only one who has them, you’re the only one who can get into your account.

You’ll naturally do all you can to keep your phone safe whenever you’re out and about. But even if your phone or tablet go missing, nobody can get into your Barclaycard account without your Barclaycard login details.

If you’re ever worried about that, contact us as soon as you can. And if there’s ever any fraud on your account, you’ll be refunded for the amount taken – plus any interest you’ve paid on it.

We’d always advise using only Wi-Fi networks or service providers that you know you can trust. And if you’re using a public network, don’t enter account numbers, passwords or any other personal details.

‘Jailbreaking’, ‘rooting’, and ‘unlocking’ are all ways that phones can be tampered with so they can run software to do things that aren’t normally allowed. When a device has had this done, it makes it more vulnerable to fraudulent attacks. That’s why the Barclaycard app can’t be installed on such phones – it’s all part of us working to keep your personal details secure at all times.

If you ever need to get in touch with us speedily, use the ‘Contact us’ feature on the app. Because we’ll know it’s you, you’ll get through quicker, and we won’t need to make security checks to know it’s you we’re talking to. We may sometimes have to ask for some extra security information from you – depending on your circumstances, or your reason for calling via the app. But we’ll still try and keep things as quick as possible.

Set up your Barclaycard as the default card in your wallet and you’ll get a notification when you make a transaction. And if anything ever looks like it’s not you using your wallet, you’ll be notified straight away.

It’s best to always set this up on your phone – to help find where it is if it ever goes walkabout. You’ll also be able to set your device to Lost Mode or wipe it clean completely.

If your phone offers these features, we’d recommend you set them up as an extra level of security. Once you’ve downloaded the Barclaycard app, you can then log in securely this way. Just remember that anyone whose fingerprint or face is stored on your phone will be able to access the app from it.
