I use the same password for different online accounts
Stay Savvy: That's great. Using different passwords for different accounts means you're making it much harder for criminals. The best passwords contain uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. You should also avoid using easily guessed words, such as the names of children or pets, birth dates, addresses.
Stay Savvy: Hmm, that's not the safest. If a fraudster cracks one of your passwords, they'll use it to try and access your other accounts. The best passwords contain uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. You should also avoid using easily guessed words, such as the names of children or pets, birth dates, addresses

I use my date of birth or mother's maiden name as my password
Stay Savvy: Perfect. Fraudsters can easily find that kind of info online, so it's great you're thinking outside of the box when creating passwords.
Stay Savvy: That's not the most secure option. It's really easy to remember that way, but it can also be really easy for fraudsters to find that kind of info online. So think outside the box and choose something they can't easily find out.

My antivirus and security software is all up-to-date
Stay Savvy: Great, this will help to keep you safe. The older the antivirus and security software, the more time cyber criminals have had to find weaknesses, making it easier for them to access your computer, tablet or phone. Stay one step ahead of fraudsters with up-to-date software.
Stay Savvy: That's not very safe. Antivirus and security software are great tools to help keep fraudsters and viruses at bay. Without these, cyber criminals may try to find weaknesses, which could make it easier for them to access your computer, tablet or phone. Use them to keep your computer secure and install any updates as soon as they're released.

I keep my mobile phone secure with a passcode or fingerprint ID
Stay Savvy: Perfect. You're doing a great job at helping to keep all the info on your phone as safe as you can. Don't forget to pick a code that's harder to crack – not an obvious one like '1234' or '0000'.
Stay Savvy: Hmm, that's not the safest.. Our mobile phones are packed with info that fraudsters would love to get their hands on. So always keep it secure by setting up a passcode or fingerprint ID. And don't go for obvious passcodes like '1234' or '0000'.

I like to share updates about where I am and who I'm with on social media
Stay Savvy: Great. Keeping your daily life off social media gets a big thumbs up. Social media sites seem like a fun way to share our pet pics and holiday status, but to a fraudster, they're a way to access your personal info.
Stay Savvy: That's not the best. Social media sites seem like a fun way to share our pet pics and holiday status. But to a fraudster, they’re a way to access your personal info. Make sure your accounts are set to 'friends only', so you'll only be sharing stuff with people you know.

I use auto-complete for online forms and logging into my accounts
Stay Savvy: Brilliant. You fill in online forms and log in to your accounts manually. Smart thinking. If someone steals your computer, tablet or phone, they won't be able access your accounts as easily.
Stay Savvy: That's not very secure. Auto-completed account log-ins and forms speed things up a treat. But if someone steals your computer, tablet or phone, they can access your accounts in seconds, without the need for any of your security info.

I shred or destroy anything with personal or financial information
Stay Savvy: Perfect, that's the safest option. You know the score when it comes to identity theft. Shredding or destroying anything with your personal info before you throw it away means you're doing your bit to keep fraudsters at bay.
Stay Savvy: Hmm, that's not very safe. You'd be amazed at the lengths some fraudsters go to just to get information about you, even rummaging through your rubbish. Identity theft can mean you face problems getting credit and with debt collectors. So always shred or destroy anything with your personal info before you throw it away.

I text back, or pick up a call, even if I don't recognise the number
Stay Savvy: Great. Fraudsters are great impersonators and they can be quite convincing when they contact you. If someone gets in touch with you out of the blue, stop and think. We'll never ask you for your personal account details, passwords or PIN – and that goes for the police and other official businesses, too.
Stay Savvy: That's not ideal. Fraudsters are great impersonators and they can be quite convincing when they contact you. If someone gets in touch with you out of the blue, stop and think. We'll never ask you for your personal account details, passwords or PIN – and that goes for the police and other official businesses, too.

My post is delivered to a shared address or postbox
Stay Savvy: This'll keep you safe as houses. Think about switching to online statements where you can. And if you've not already gone paperless with us, it's easy to make the switch at Barclaycard Online Servicing.
Stay Savvy: That's not the safest option. If your post is delivered to a shared address or postbox, it's difficult to be certain no one's intercepting your mail. In the meantime, continue to collect your post regularly, and switch to online statements wherever you can. It's easy to turn off your paper statements at Barclaycard Online Servicing.

I'd give the Police or other officials my personal information if they phoned or knocked at my door
Stay Savvy: Great, you're wise to play it safe. There are a number of scams involving fraudsters posing as officials, both over the phone and in person, so it's always best to ask for ID through a process you trust, such as searching for them online and calling their local office.
Stay Savvy: You should be more vigilant. If the Police or other officials contact you and ask for personal information, they might not be who they say they are. There are a number of scams involving fraudsters posing as officials, both over the phone and in person, so always ask for ID through a process you trust, such as searching for them online and calling their local office.
